Women in Science Conference

March 6, 2018

NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center

Featuring

Emily Graslie

Chief Curiosity Correspondent, The Field Museum, Chicago

Emily Graslie is writer, producer, co-creator and host of The Brain Scoop, an educational YouTube channel that explores behind the scenes of The Field Museum in Chicago to share the work of scientists and the value of research collections with the world. Graslie was born and raised in Rapid City, S.D. After moving to Missoula, Mont., to pursue an undergraduate degree in fine art painting, she fell in love with the campus vertebrate research collection as a place of artistic inspiration. What began as a passionate volunteering position at a small museum transformed into a full-time career as an advocate for these underappreciated repositories. Now she's chief curiosity correspondent at The Field Museum, using new media to communicate the importance of natural history museums with the world.
