England, France
NSU’s “Literary Tour of Europe: England and France” will be May 15 to 28, 2014. English professor Dr. Elizabeth Haller and French professor Dr. Casey Black will lead participants through some of the literary, cultural, historic and artistic riches of the areas in and Paris and London. In Paris, travelers will take a river cruise of the Seine and visit sites including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral and Orsay Museum. In London, stops will include the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and the Globe Theatre. The trip will even finish with an optional Harry Potter tour.
Dr. Erin Fouberg, geography professor, and Dr. Pen Pearson, English professor, will lead “A Cultural Tour of Ireland” May 18 to June 2, 2014. This program provides a comprehensive tour of Irish history, geography, culture and literary traditions. Participants will visit locations such as Dublin; The Rock of Cashel; Cork; Blarney Castle; the Old Midleton Distillery; Kilarney; Dingle Peninsula; Cliffs of Moher; Galway and the Aran Islands; Connemara; Sligo; and Belfast.
“Israel’s Sacred Sites,” with history professor Dr. Steven Usitalo and political science professor Dr. Jon Schaff, will be May 20 to 29, 2014. This trip will stop in cities and sites that mark the origins of our civilization, including Tel Aviv, the Galilee Area, the Dead Sea, Jerusalem and Bethlehem. The group will even dine one evening on a kibbutz.
Germany, Czech Republic
From May 29 to June 9, 2014, music professor Dr. Marcela Faflak and German professor Dr. Ginny Lewis will lead a tour of Germany and the Czech Republic. The trip will include stops in many famous sites in both countries to learn about key cultural achievements and landmarks. The tour will trace the footsteps of several famous composers and cultural figures significant to the areas and will include music school visits; historical and religious monuments; museums; and live performances and concerts.
