Wildcat Net Play Ends NSU's Season

WAYNE, Neb. - The Northern State volleyball team fell in three games to Wayne State Tuesday night in the first round of the NSIC Tournament. No. 3-seeded Wildcats took the match from the No. 6-seeded Wolves by scores of 30-15, 30-22, 30-23. The loss ends the 2007 campaign for the Wolves, who finished the year with a 13-16 overall record. Knaeble Makes All-NSIC Honorable Mention

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Northern Sun Conference office has released the 2007 Volleyball All-Conference awards. Northern State senior Emily Knaeble was named to the Honorable Mention roll for the first time in her career. The Wolves (13-15, 8-10 NSIC) have wrapped up the regular season schedule and, as the No. 6 seed, will face No. 4 Wayne State in the first round of the NSIC Tournament on Tuesday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m in Wayne, Neb. Regular Season Ends in 0-3 Trouncing By Dragons

MOORHEAD, Minn. - Northern State's regular volleyball season has concluded as the Wolves fell 0-3 to the Dragons of MSU Moorhead (17-9, 11-7 NSIC) Saturday afternoon, 30-26, 30-16, and 30-21. The Wolves finish the regular schedule with a 13-15 overall record and, with a mark of 8-10 in the NSIC, are the sixth seed in the upcoming NSIC Tournament. CSP's Steinhagen Downs 20 Against Wolves

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul's Maria Steinhagen overpowered the Wolves with 20 kills in Friday's three-game decision that went to the Golden Bears with scores of 30-26, 30-21, 30-21. With the win, the third-ranked Bears clinch the NSIC regular season title with a 28-3 overall and 16-1 NSIC record. ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State volleyball team (13-13) faced off with Augustana College (17-9) in their final home match of the 2007 season. ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State volleyball team kept Upper Iowa (4-23, 0-15 NSIC) winless in NSIC play with a 3-0 downing of the Peacocks on Friday night. VERMILLION, S.D. - The Coyotes of South Dakota defeated Northern State 3-0 in non-conference action Saturday evening, 30-22, 30-27, 30-14. ABERDEEN, S.D. - The seventh-ranked Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs notched a 3-1 win over Northern State Wednesday night at Wachs Arena, 30-25, 25-30, 30-18, and 30-19. Nygaard Sets Record, Named Player of the Week

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Northern State junior Stephanie Nygaard has been named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the NSIC office on Monday afternoon. Nygaard was the leading defender for the Wolves last week, averaging 8.89 digs per game from the libero position. Nygaard is a native of Milbank, S.D. and transferred to NSU this season from Dakota State. Full Story

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State volleyball team (8-7, 3-4 NSIC) took sixth-ranked Concordia-St. Paul (17-2, 7-1 NSIC) to four games before dropping the match, 22-30, 21-30, 32-30, and 22-30. Dragons Win Marathon Match

ABERDEEN, S.D. - In their lengthiest match of the season the Wolves volleyball team fell in five games to MSU Moorhead. Stephanie Nygaard had 58 digs in the match, the most by any NSIC player this season, and Kelsey Aden had a career high 23 kills. The win for the Dragons separates them from the Wolves in NSIC standings, as MSUM is now 10-4 overall and 5-2 in NSIC play, while NSU is 8-6 overall and 3-3 in NSIC play. MARSHALL, Minn. - The Northern State volleyball team took a game from 7th-ranked Southwest Minnesota State University on the road Friday night before ultimately falling in four games. The game scores were as follows, 17-30, 30-25, 16-30 and 15-30. The loss is the first league loss for the Wolves this season, as they are now 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the NSIC. ABERDEEN, S.D. - After going up 2-0 against the Golden Eagles of Minnesota, Crookston on Saturday evening, Northern State's volleyball match got a whole lot more interesting as UMC tied things up 2-2 and the match went into a deciding fifth game. KEARNEY, Neb. - The Northern State volleyball team split results in the final day of the UNK Fall Classic. They dropped a three-game decision to event host Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday morning before defeating Northwest Missouri State in an evening match.. UNK, the co-defending champs of the Rocky Mountain Conference (RMAC) went 3-0 on the season by defeating the Wolves (2-1) 30-18, 30-16, and 37-35. KEARNEY, Neb. - Junior middle blocker Kelsey Aden (St. James, Minn.) tallied 12 kills in each of NSU's season-opening wins against the University of Montevallo (Ala.) and St. Martin's (Wash.) on Friday at the UNK Fall Classic. NSU Football and Volleyball Games To Be Webstreamed

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is pleased to announce that all NSU home football and volleyball games, as well as all men's and women's basketball games, will be available for LIVE webcast viewing for the 2007-08 season. NSU, in cooperation with the NSIC and Penn Atlantic, began webcasting basketball games last season. Wolves Set To Kick Off Season

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State volleyball team opens the 2007 season this weekend at the UNK Fall Classic Presented By Runza and Ramada Inn. The Wolves will play Montevallo and St. Martin's on Friday, August 24 with game times set at 10:00 am and 4:45 pm, respectively. They will open Saturday's play against Classic host UN-Kearney at 12:15 pm, followed by a finale with Northwest Missouri State at 4:45 pm. Northern Picked Sixth In Preseason Poll

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State volleyball team was picked to finish sixth in the 2007 NSIC Preseason Volleyball Coaches Poll, released by the NSIC office. The Wolves took fifth in the league in 2006 with an overall record of 17-13 and a mark of 10-8 in the NSIC. They made their first-ever NCAA tournament berth in 2006, as well. The Wolves open the 2007 season at the UN-Kearney Tournament on August 24-25.

Wolves Honored For Academic Success

Northern Ranked 15th In 2006 Attendance

ABERDEEN, SD – The Wolves volleyball team came in 15th in the nation last season for average home attendance at the Division II level, according the NCAA. 3,145 fans showed up for seven home matches for an average of 449 fans per game. Fellow NSIC members Wayne State (8) and Concordia-St. Paul (12) were also ranked in the top 15.
