The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the largest academic unit at Northern, with about one-third of Northern students majoring in programs through the college.

These departments administer dynamic internships, where students are placed in the community to gain firsthand experience in public and private agencies, schools, businesses and social service agencies. The CAS also organizes learning experiences in Europe and Mexico, trips to Washington, D.C., and other major cities in the United States.
