The Primrose Arts and Lecture Series, a community arts and lecture series featuring an array of interdisciplinary topics and music performances, presents “It’s never too late to exercise” with Dr. Greg Cantrell, assistant professor of human performance. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place 2:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Primrose Retirement Community, 1701 Third Ave.
The Northern State University theater production of “The Miraculous Tale of Edward Tulane” will be performed in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theater at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 and at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 17.

The 48th annual South Dakota Jazz Festival Concert will be held on Thursday, Jan. 18, featuring guest performers “The Hornheads.”
“The Hornheads” of Minneapolis, Minn., will serve as guest performers at the festival, which will culminate in an evening performance at 7:30 p.m. in the NSU JFAC Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

The opening reception for Michaela Schlecht’s senior art exhibition will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, in Northern State University’s Beulah Williams Library. Schlecht’s exhibition will be on display Dec. 1-16. It includes photographs, digital art, cyanotypes and video. A multimedia design major, she has studied with Keum Taek Jung, Sara Christensen Blair, Greg Blair and Nadya Preszler at NSU.
This play is about the most famous performance-art piece in history. In protest of the illegal 2012 presidential election, Pussy Riot – an anonymous Russian feminist protest punk rock group – staged a performance inside Moscow’s Christ the Savior Church. Their 48-second “Punk Prayer” and the viral video of that performance put them in the public eye. The Kremlin responded by hunting down and arresting three members of the group.
The 2017 Northern State University Concerto-Aria Competition will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 16, in the Krikac Auditorium.
The competition is a project of the Aberdeen University/Civic Symphony, administered by Dr. Robert Vodnoy, conductor of the AUCS and professor of strings and music history. Winner(s) of the annual competition will perform with the orchestra at their winter concert on Feb. 21.
