Five Northern State University alumni and one Wolves team will be honored at this year’s NSU Hall of Fame Banquet. The banquet, part of Gypsy Days, will take place at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the Dakota Event Center. Cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children. Each year, the NSU Alumni Association selects a Kretchman Coaching Award winner and also inducts former Wolves athletes into the NSU Hall of Fame.

Alumni and friends are invited to the Gypsy Day tailgate beginning at 11 a.m. in Ken's SuperFair Foods Tailgate Lot at the south end of Swisher Field. The Alumni Association is hosting an alumni and friends tailgate sponsored by Jimmy John's and RDO Equipment starting at noon. The Gypsy Day football game will kick off at 2:30 p.m.

The small group communications class at NSU will host the "Howlin' Fall Carnival" on Sept. 19, beginning at 12:30 p.m. on the NSU Campus Green. The carnival is sponsored by Habitat Management Solutions. Free pizza and games such as balloon darts and ring toss will be available to play, with free prizes to be won! The event will also feature a chance to pie NSU students Harrison Bruns and Pedram Homa in the face. This event is free and open to NSU students and the community.

Northern State University biology faculty and students will host a public open house at one of two new Monarch Waystations in Aberdeen. The “Pollinator Garden Community Meet and Greet” will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Kuhnert Arboretum, located south of Melgaard Road. Drs. Alyssa Anderson and Jodie Ramsay will attend, along with NSU biology student interns Tessa Durnin, Sean Kramer and Matt Wiebers.

The Northern State University Art Department will sponsor the Fandom Dakota Convention (FANDAKCON) in the Student Center on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

FANDAKCON is comprised of a group of individuals who are passionate about various genres of pop-culture fandoms, such as comics, anime, steampunk, science fiction, gaming and many more areas of interest - joining forces and creating a memorable event for our community.
