The 2017 Northern State University Undergraduate Creativity, Scholarship and Research Forum will take place 11 a.m.-4:15 p.m. Thursday, April 13, in the Beulah Williams Library.

The schedule is as follows:

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Student oral presentations

12:45-1:30 p.m.: Keynote address by Dennis Skadsen, a project coordinator with Day County Conservation District. Topic: “General Conservation Programs and Their History.”

1:30-2:30 p.m.: Student poster presentations with reception

Leaders from the Sanford Underground Research Facility will lead a discussion titled "Big Science at Sanford Lab," an exploration of the Lab's impact on education and the economy in South Dakota, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, at Northern State University. The event will be held in the NSU Student Center Centennial Rooms, 1200 S. Jay St., Aberdeen, S.D. A reception will follow the event, which is free and open to the public. Sanford Lab’s Mike Headley, executive director of the South Dakota Science and Technology Authority, and Jaret Heise, science director, will give the presentation.

“A Night of Art and Poetry” will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Red Rooster Coffee House, 202 S. Main St. The event will feature artwork by Northern State University students. The event, which is free and open to the public, honors National Poetry Month, Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Proceeds from artwork sold will benefit Safe Harbor, Aberdeen’s domestic violence shelter. Featured guest will be poet Christine Stewart-Nuñez, associate professor in the English Department at South Dakota State University.

A poetry reading by Christine Stewart-Nuñez, associate professor in the English Department at South Dakota State University, will take place in NSU Williams Library Round Room at 4:30 p.m. April 5. Her piece "An Archeology of Secrets" was a Notable Essay in Best American Essays 2012.

The third annual Lamont-Rhodes Lecture will bring an expert in agricultural economics to the campus of Northern State University.

Dr. Michael Boehlje’s speech, presented by the NSU School of Business and Dacotah Bank, will take place on Thursday, April 6. The event begins with a brunch buffet at 7:30 a.m. in Dacotah Hall. Boehlje will speak at 8:30 a.m. in Krikac Auditorium.

Tickets are $20, or $125 per a group of 8.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University art department faculty member, Gratia Brown’s art exhibition entitled “Recontextualize” will be displayed in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery.

Brown’s exhibition will be showcased through March 31. An opening reception for the event will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the JFAC Gallery.
