Summary:  Applicants must be minority students enrolled in a teacher education program. Applicants must also be in at least their junior year. Requires application, letter from the Dean of Education, letter of character reference, and transcript. Multiple scholarships awarded.
 
 Deadline:  May 6, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be active in community service and can be either high school seniors or current college students.  Requires application, essay, and proof of college enrollment/acceptance.  Ten $5,000 scholarships.

 

NSU Career Service Scholarship 

Deadline:  April 30, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be NSU Career Service employees or be the child, spouse, or grandchild of a CSA employee.  Requires application and transcript. 

 

South Dakota Telecommunications Association Scholarships

Deadline:  May 31, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must have completed at least two semesters of higher education and be a customer or have parents who are customers of a South Dakota Telecommunications Association member company.  Requires application and two recommendation letters.

 

Christian Service Scholarship

Deadline:  April 11, 2014
Summary: Applicants must be active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, or any other NSU campus Christian organization.  Applicants must also be active in church and/or youth activities.  Requires application and letter of recommendation.

 
Barnard Alumni Scholarship
Deadline:  April 11, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be descendants of Barnard High School graduates.  Requires application.
 
NSU Nontraditional Student Scholarships

Summary:  Several scholarships are available to nontraditional students through this one application; nontraditional student applicants will be considered for all scholarships for which they qualify.

Avera St. Luke’s Vern Jark Scholarship
Deadline:  April 11, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be South Dakota residents who are juniors or seniors majoring in biology and/or chemistry.  Applicants must also intend to pursue a career in the medical field.  Requires application.

NSU Women Scholarship
Deadline:  April 11, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be full-time NSU employees enrolled in a minimum of three semester hours, or be members of the immediate family of an NSU employee and be enrolled in a minimum of nine semester hours.  Applicants must also have completed at least 30 semester hours at the time of application.  Requires application.

 

Panzirer Family Public Safety Scholarship

Deadline:  July 1, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be the son or daughter of an active or former member of law enforcement and be a current or past resident of South Dakota.  Requires application, ACT scores, and transcripts.  One $5000 scholarship.

 

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship 

Deadline:  May 24, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be women pursuing a business major.  Requires application, two recommendation letters, essay, enrollment verification, and transcript.  One $300 scholarship

 

Dakotas AER Scholarship 

Deadline:  April 25
Summary:  Applicants must be students preparing to go into the teaching field with an emphasis on the education of students with visual impairments.  Requires application, cover letter, two recommendation letters, and transcript.  One $500 scholarship.

 

Black Hills Home Builders Association Scholarship

Deadline: May 1, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must have goal of employment in the home building industry.  Requires application, transcript, statement of financial need, and three reference letters.  Two $1,000 scholarships. 
 

Elmer C. Anderson Memorial Scholarship    

Deadline: April 30, 2014
Summary: Applicants must be juniors or seniors during the 2014 fall semester at any four-year college or university in South Dakota.  Requires application, copy of current FAFSA, essay, and transcript.  One $1,000 scholarship.

 

Farmers Union Insurance Scholarships 

Deadline:  April 15, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be South Dakota high school seniors who are members of South Dakota Farmers Union or whose parents are policyholders of Farmers Union Insurance Agency.  Applicants may also be participants in any South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) -sanctioned event.  Requires application, transcript, ACT score, recommendation letter, and essay.  Twenty-five $1,000 scholarships.

 

Russ Keen Memorial Scholarship                    
Deadline:  May 1, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be graduates of Aberdeen Central High School majoring in journalism or communications.  Requires application.  

Doolittle Business Scholarship                
Deadline:  May 1, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be Aberdeen Central High School graduates majoring in business.  Applicants must also be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior years of college in 2014-2015.  Requires application and three letters of recommendation. 
Deadline:  July 1, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be business majors who live in or maintain residency in Lincoln or Minnehaha County—even though they may attend school outside the area.  Requires application, essay, two recommendations, and transcript.  One $2,500 scholarship.

 

South Dakota Retailers Association Scholarship   

Deadline:  April 11, 2014
Summary:  Applicants must be enrolled in a retail or business-related field of study (accounting, business management, computer science, banking, etc.) and must have completed at least one year of college.  Requires application, personal essay, transcript, two reference letters.  Scholarship amounts vary.


Financial Assistance through the National Farmworker Jobs Program                   

Summary:  To qualify for financial assistance through the Black Hills Special Services Cooperative’s National Farmworker Jobs Program, applicants must have earned wages on a farm or ranch in the last two years (not including the family farm).  Fifty percent of applicants’ income must be earned through farm labor or 50 percent of time must be spent in farm or ranch work.  Dependents of the eligible farm worker are also eligible for assistance.  See application for details.

Jump Start Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be SD residents who graduate high school in 3 years or less. Guaranteed $1771.34 for one year.

South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be South Dakota students who attended an eligible higher education institution in South Dakota. Requires composite ACT score of 24 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and completion of the high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum. Guaranteed to all students who qualify, $5000 over four years.
