Northern State University

Counselor ... helper ... healer. If those monikers appeal to you, the counseling program at Northern State University is for you. Northern can offer you a master of science degree in education with preparation for K-12 school or clinical mental health counseling certification. Complete the program, and you'll possess the theoretical base and skills necessary to provide counseling services.

 

Career directions: If you select School Counseling, you'll be prepared to counsel K-12 children in private, public, or parochial schools. Select Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and you'll qualify to work in an agency with children, adults, families and groups; or in a career guidance employment setting. The program also will prepare you to take a state licensure or national certification exam

 

At Northern, you'll have the freedom to develop your own counseling style. The program subscribes to the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
