Disaster Preparedness Workshops
Northern State University Williams Library will host free disaster preparedness planning and response training workshops May 13-14 and Aug. 12 in Aberdeen.
Staff and volunteers from area museums, libraries, archives and other collecting institutions are welcome to attend these workshops, sponsored by the Dakota Collections Care Initiative (DCCI).
The workshops offer the opportunity for your institution to develop or update a disaster plan with the assistance of a trained conservator. Although the workshops are free, registration is required online at http://dcciworkshops2013.eventbrite.com/
and closes May 6.
Twenty travel stipends are available to help those who don’t live in Aberdeen attend the workshops. Stipends of up to $100 per person may be used for lodging and mileage reimbursement. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may be requested through the online registration process.
Information about DCCI and a detailed workshop schedule are posted at the South Dakota State Historical Society website at http://history.sd.gov
