NSU Junior Invited to Speak at Tri-College Development Institute

Released May 16, 2008

(ABERDEEN, SD) Bobbi Piasecki, a junior at Northern State University, has been invited to speak at the “Tri-College NEW Leadership Development Institute.” The panel is titled "Community Leadership and Social Change" and will be held on June 5, at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. Piasecki will also serve on a panel of women who are public and community leaders that provide participants with an opportunity to get an "insider's view" of life as public leaders while learning about the personal side of their leadership experience.

The institute is held annually at one of the three Tri-College University (TCU) campuses after spring semester classes have ended. The consortium includes Concordia College, Minnesota State University Moorhead and North Dakota State University. The primary purpose of TCU is to maximize opportunities for Tri-College students, faculty and the community.

“NEW Leadership” is an intensive five-day residential program designed to teach participants about the diversity of women's participation in politics, connect them with women leaders, and cultivate their leadership skills. It has been developed in partnership with the “NEW Leadership Development Network,” established by the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University.

“I attended the May 2006 conference held at North Dakota State University and met several community and political leaders,” said Piasecki. “There were women from all over the world, and I felt honored to be invited back as one of the speakers.”
