ABERDEEN, S.D. – The South Dakota Jazz Festival celebrates its 50th year on Thursday, Jan. 23, at Northern State University.

The festival will feature No. 1 selling vocalist and trombonist Aubrey Logan, who will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the NSU JFAC Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

The South Dakota Jazz Festival brings together more than 180 students from high school jazz groups across South Dakota and the Upper Midwest, featuring competitive and non-competitive categories featuring vocal jazz, combos and big bands.

Guest artist Logan has performed more than 250 shows since 2016 and has worked with major acts such as Boston Pops, Josh Groban, Pharrell and Meghan Trainor. Known as “The Queen of Sass,” Logan has also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, The Grammy Awards and a PBS special. Her debut, “Impossible,” was a top 10 album on the iTunes, Billboard and Amazon charts.

Tickets for the Jazz Festival concert will be available at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for children. The concert is free for NSU students with ID and jazz festival participants. The concert is also an Aberdeen Community Concert for those who have purchased tickets to the concert series.
