NSU’s LaFave performs at Arizona State University

​ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dr. Alan LaFave, Northern State University dean of fine arts and professor of music (clarinet), performed at the 25th Anniversary Celebration Gala for Dr. Robert Spring at Arizona State University.


LaFave performed the Concertino by Carl Maria von Weber at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in the Katzin Concert Hall on the campus of Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz. LaFave received the master's and doctoral degrees in clarinet performance from Arizona State, where he was a student of Spring.


Two of LaFave's former students also have connections with Arizona State. Anna (Hedges) Hakemann, originally from Aberdeen, graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from NSU and a Master of Music degree from Arizona State. She is a middle school band director in Sioux Falls.


Shengwen Wu, a 2012 NSU graduate originally from Beijing, China, is pursuing a Master of Music degree in clarinet performance at Arizona State.
