Memorial service will celebrate the life of NSU student Casey Luedke
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Casey Luedke will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the Student Center Centennial Rooms B and D at Northern State University.

The service is open to all Northern students and the Aberdeen community.

Luedke, 21, of Watertown, Minn., passed away unexpectedly on New Year’s Day. He was a second-year student at NSU majoring in environmental science, which mirrored the passion he had for the outdoors. Luedke was an avid waterfowl hunter and was working for the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks, where he hoped to pursue a career after earning his degree.

NSU President Jim Smith said losing someone so young is always devastating.

“The loss of Casey was felt by everyone at Northern,” Smith said. “The memorial service will provide a chance for us to reflect on the importance of reaching out to others in the campus community.”

The NSU Counseling Center is available to assist students during this difficult time. The Counseling Center can be reached at 605-626-2371 or 605-290-5699.
