Talented high school speakers to compete Oct. 19 at NSU
Some of the area’s most talented high school speakers will compete in the
44th annual Oral Interpretation Contest Oct. 19 at Northern State University.
Around 175 students from up to two dozen schools are expected to attend, said Dr. Anthony Wachs, assistant professor and director of forensics in NSU’s Department of Languages, Literature, and Communication Studies. The NSU Speech and Debate Team is hosting the contest, which the public is welcome to attend.
Based in the Johnson Fine Arts Center, contest events will take place simultaneously throughout the morning and early afternoon across campus. The schedule is as follows:
Round 1     9:15 a.m.
Round 2    10:30 a.m.
Round 3    11:45 a.m.
Lunch        12:15 p.m.
Finals        1:45 p.m.
Awards      3:30 p.m.
