NSU music fraternity offering singing valentines
ABERDEEN, S.D. – Aberdeen residents can  surprise their sweeties this Valentine’s
Day with a singing valentine from the women’s music fraternity at Northern State University.

NSU’s Sigma Alpha Iota will be delivering singing valentines Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 14-16. Singing valentines can be delivered anywhere in Aberdeen, said organizer Chelsea Kerbaugh. Time of delivery will be determined based on singer availability. Cost is $5 on campus and $10 off campus. The singing valentines are a fundraiser for the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired’s music program, Kerbaugh said.

With a singing valentine, a group of Sigma Alpha Iota members will show up at the delivery site and sing the recipient a love song and even give him or her chocolates. Kerbaugh said delivering the musical valentines is always fun, particularly when the recipient gets embarrassed – this happens, for instance, when a professor is serenaded in front of his or her class.

Sigma Alpha Iota has 17 members. NSU music faculty member Dr. Darci Bultema is the group’s adviser.

To order a singing valentine, contact Kerbaugh at 218-790-5458. Orders can be placed until Tuesday evening.
