Northern to host student leadership conference

​ABERDEEN, S.D. – For the first time in more than a decade, Northern State University will host the South Dakota College Personnel Association Student Leadership Conference.

 


The conference, themed “Blazing a Trail,” is Oct. 11-12 in the newly renovated NSU Student Center.

 

The event kicks off Thursday night, Oct. 11, with a dance in the newly remodeled and expanded Centennial Rooms. The one-day workshop is expected to feature nationally known speakers, including Dr. Alan Berkowitz, is co-creator of the social norms approach to changing behavior. Berkowitz will provide a keynote address and will present different topics in each of the scheduled breakout sessions.

 


The South Dakota College Personnel Association is an organization for South Dakota student affairs professionals and graduate students. Its mission is “to provide continued leadership in addressing issues and trends in higher education and professional education programs to promote student development and learning.”

 


The conference registration fee is $40. Registration can be completed online at the SDCPA website, http://www.mysdcpa.org/home.
