ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is hosting a reception and open house in honor of Veterans Day.
The event will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the temporary Veterans Lounge on the first floor of the Student Center, across from the post office. All students, faculty and staff who are currently in uniform; those who served previously; and those who wish to show support are invited to stop in for a snack or dessert.
NSU has received funding from the governor’s office to support veterans at NSU. The $20,000.82 grant is being used to establish spaces for student veterans – such as computer/study stations and an on-campus meeting space. It’s also being used to enhance marketing and recruitment efforts of veterans – including developing a high-quality brochure; training admissions staff for veteran outreach; developing an interactive presence on or near military installations/units; and enhancing the NSU website to better market these veteran resources.
NSU also has created a Web page dedicated to faculty and staff who are veterans or active military members. Read their stories HERE
