ABERDEEN, S.D. – An international pianist will premiere a Northern State

University professor’s piano composition in Hot Springs.
Eugene Gienger, also known as "Dakota Pianist," will perform Dr. William Wieland’s “Eurydice and Orpheus” as part of his solo recital at 2 p.m. Feb. 10 at Mueller Civic Center.
Wieland teaches theory, piano, technology and composition at NSU. He said much of the material for the piano composition was reworked from incidental music composed for the 2009 NSU theater production of Sarah Ruhl’s “Eurydice.”
Wieland and Gienger will be interviewed at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, by Owen DeJong of SDPB Radio during his Morning Classics program.
Gienger also played at the NSU Liszt Festival in 2011.
