ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Symphonic Band and Concert Band will present their fall concert, entitled “Classics,” on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 3:00 p.m., in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

“Classics” will feature some of the best-known and loved repertoire for wind band.

The Symphonic Band will perform “Gavorkna Fanfare,” by Jack Stamp; “William Byrd Suite,” arranged by Gordon Jacob; “Symphonic Dance No.3 – ‘Fiesta,’” by Clifton Williams; “Angels in the Architecture,” by Frank Ticheli; and “Chimes of Liberty March,” by Edwin Franko Goldman. NSU sophomore and soprano, Taylor Brekke of Mobridge, is the featured vocalist in “Angels in the Architecture.”

The Concert Band will perform “Second Suite in F for Military Band,” by Gustav Holst; “Ye Banks and Braes O’ Bonnie Doon,” by Percy Grainger; and “Lightning Field,” by John Mackey.

The NSU Concert Band is directed by Dr. Audrey Miller and the Symphonic Band is directed by Dr. Rolf Olson.

Tickets for the event are $7 for adults, $3.50 for NSU faculty/staff and free to NSU students with ID. Tickets can be purchased via the School of Fine Arts website or at the JFAC box office.
