ABERDEEN, S.D. – This year, Northern State University will celebrate multiculturalism with a week’s worth of events, held Nov. 13-17 during national International Education Week.
The week will feature daily activities on campus celebrating cultures from around the nation and the globe. The schedule of events includes:
Monday, Nov. 13
10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Study Abroad Fair, Student Center
12:30-1:30 p.m.: NSU Career Services student workshop, “Marketing your international experience,” Student Center Centennial Rooms
7 p.m.: Women’s Basketball International Night, Barnett Center
Tuesday, Nov. 14
5:30-6:30 p.m.: Sash ceremony (December international student graduates), Lincoln Hall Gallery
Wednesday, Nov. 15:
11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Confucius Institute calligraphy demonstration, Student Center Maroon Room
1-2 p.m.: Faculty Fulbright information session, Student Center Gold Room
2-3 p.m., 3-4 p.m.: Confucius Institute tai chi fan dance lessons, Student Center
6-7:30 p.m.: Pengyou/Multicultural Forum, Student Center Maroon Room
Thursday, Nov. 16:
6-8 p.m.: “Many Cultures, One Community,” Centennial Rooms
Including: Taste of Home food booths and entertainment
Featuring: Kevin Locke, world renowned Hoop Dancer at 7 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 17
All day: Art Exhibit by NSU faculty member Dr. Greg Blair, Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery
7 p.m.: Men’s Basketball game half-time performance of the Flag Song, Lakota National Anthem and Veterans’ Song by the Native American Student Association and Cheyenne River High School students, in honor of Native American Heritage month
Evening: Ping pong tournament, rec center in Dacotah Hall
