Northern has a rich tradition in fine arts education. The NSU School of Fine Arts is the largest in South Dakota, consisting of two departments: art, and music & theatre.

The spacious, gracious Johnson Fine Arts Center hosts more than 60 fine arts events each year, put on by the talented students and faculty of the NSU School of Fine Arts.
