Dr. Timothy Houge is director of the NSU Reading Clinic. Under his leadership,
the clinic has continued to grow to serve students who need and want to improve their literacy skills.
Dr. Houge's 25 years of professional experience began as a second-grade classroom teacher in the Wichita School District at Gardiner Elementary School in Wichita, Kan. He later taught second grade at Robert Lunt Elementary School in Clark County School District and first grade at John F. Mendoza Elementary School. Dr. Houge was a reading specialist at William E. Ferron Elementary School, Las Vegas.
Dr. Houge is an associate professor in the School of Education at Northern.
Dr. Houge has acquired extensive teaching experience at the university level, which includes: Practicum in Diagnosis and Instruction of Literacy Difficulties, Instruction and Assessment in Reading and Writing II, Issues and Solutions in Education, Literacy Practicum, Reading Clinic Practicum, and K-8 Reading Methods.
