Need Funding for your Organization? Attend Funding Request Training
In early December the Student Association Finance Committee will hold sessions to train the officers and advisors of any organizations wishing to request funding from the Student Budget Appropriations Committee (SBAC).
Training sessions will be MANDATORY - at least one representative of your organization must attend in order for your funding request to be considered.
These sessions will take place in Student Center Centennial Room C on:
Dec. 3 - 4 p.m.
Dec. 4 - 11 a.m.
Dec. 6 - 1 p.m.
Please be prepared to take notes. Examples of completed forms will be provided. If no member of your organization is able to attend one of these sessions, we will set up a private meeting to fulfill this requirement with your organization at your earliest convenience. We request to be informed if you cannot attend any training sessions by noon Dec. 6.
The training sessions should last about an hour apiece, and only one of the three must be attended. In these sessions we will explain the student organization funding process and instructions on how to make an SBAC request for the upcoming hearings. Dates for the SBAC hearings will be made available at the training sessions, along with the required forms. We will also cover procedure for correctly submitting your request and signing up for a presentation time.
There will be a signup sheet at all three sessions. If you are attending for more than one organization, please make a separate entry on the sign in sheet for each organization. While an officer or advisor of the organization is preferred, any member of the organization qualifies as a representative. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to e-mail me at email@example.com
The Northern State University Student Association welcomes all Northern students. We'd like to know your concerns or compliments regarding our school; we're here to help.
If you enjoy student government , think about joining the association. Every March, elections are held to determine a new president, vice president and senators for the following school year. To run for the Student Association, you must meet a few requirements.
The Student Association also helps allocate student funds. Each semester at Northern, you pay a general activity fund (GAF). Members of the Student Association help determine to which programs this money is given.
The Student Association also sponsors events with other schools around the state. One of these events, known as SHED (Students For Higher Education) Days, helps students from around the state work with South Dakota Legislature, sharing their opinions on current bills that could impact higher education.
Elections: Elections for senators are held each February or March
Meetings: Meetings of senators are held Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in Student Center, Centennial Room
