As an elementary education major at Northern, you’ll learn to create lessons that actively involve your students, and how to best address a wide variety of learning styles.

English as a New Language Graduate Certificate

Northern's online graduate certificate in English as a New Language (ENL) will enable those who are currently seeking a graduate degree to enhance their credentials and marketability. Additionally, this certificate will allow those who already possess a bachelor’s degree and teacher certification to become an ESL teacher or refine their skills as a classroom teacher to better serve English learners. The curriculum totals more than 12 credits because the plan of study meets the SD DOE requirements for o

Each student chooses from several program emphases, each of which prioritizes different skill sets and content to suit students’ own career goals.

Northern's General Studies bachelor's degree, offered online and on campus, is an option for you if you've earned a significant number of credits toward a degree, but wish to change your program of study. To pursue a BGS degree, you must have a 2.0 GPA.
