The “Northern Lights: Celebrating Grieg, Vinje and Krerulf” festival of Norwegian music and poetry will be held in the Northern State University Krikac Auditorium Nov. 8-9.
Thursday, November 8:
7:30 p.m. Krikac Auditorium—Opening concert “Celebrating Grieg and Vinje.” Performances by guest artist Dr. Paul Hindemith, Dr. Darci Bultem, Dr. Marla Fogderud, and guest artist Mr. Keith Teepen.
Friday, November 9:
Noon, Beulah Williams Library Rotunda—Brown bag luncheon and Q & A session with the performing artists. Bring your lunch and enjoy conversation with the singers and pianist about their experiences performing and teaching Norwegian music.
1:00 p.m., Beulah Williams Library Rotunda—Lecture on the life and work of poet Aasmund Olavsson Vinje by Dr. Marla Fogderud. Come for the brown bag luncheon, stay for the lecture!
7:30 p.m., Krikac Auditorium—Closing concert “Celebrating Grieg and Kjerulf.” Performances by the NSU Chamber Choir, Dr. Darci Bultema, Dr. Marla Fogderud, and guests artists Dr. Paul Hindemith and Mr. Keith Teepen.
All events are free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at all events and will benefit the Edvard Grieg Society of the Dakotas and the NSU Choir program. The festival schedule is also available via the School of Fine Arts page.
