A Northern international business graduate is prepared to lead, problem-solve, plan, evaluate, advise and organize in a global setting. In this program, you’ll take courses that will develop your understanding of diverse human values, motivations and relations.

International business students gain unique experiences through Northern's study abroad opportunities. Combined with our foreign language requirement and core coursework, you’ll acquire an appreciation for foreign cultures and learn how to interact and succeed in multinational business operations.

Northern also offers a popular four-week study-abroad opportunity to take intensive Spanish courses in Santiago, Chile.

Dual-Degree Option Available

Now, Northern is offering an online dual-degree option that will allow you to obtain both an International Business degree and a Spanish degree in only four years! Having a business background along with Spanish language skills will prepare you for careers in a variety of national and international workplace settings. The Bachelor of Arts in International Business Studies is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

 

Careers 

An international business degree not only prepares you for an exciting global career; it also offers essential business background for students who’d like to continue their studies in foreign languages, global geography, government and more.

Common career opportunities for graduates include foreign sales representative, international management consultant, translator, import/export agent, international financial manager and management analyst.  

NSU School of Business students are counseled by advisers and instructors on potential career paths, as well as internship and post-graduation employment opportunities.

Internships 

NSU's International Business program, offered online and on campus, supports career readiness through internships that give you a chance to apply your skills in the workplace. NSU students have interned in diverse areas of business, including administration, programming, banking, marketing and accounting. 

The NSU School of Business shares internship opportunities through postings and on-campus presentations and interviews.

“I am from a big college town, and I knew from living there that a big school wasn’t for me. Because Northern is a smaller school, I have had the opportunity to be involved in a lot of ways around campus. For example, I am the Business LLC Peer Mentor for Residence Life, as well as a member of Honors, CICS and Business Club. I am also a cheerleader for football and basketball and a Communications and Marketing intern. One of the coolest opportunities that I have gotten at Northern, however, is the chance to study abroad. This last summer I went to Cambodia and Thailand, and it was a dream come true. As someone who was born in North Dakota and now goes to school in South Dakota, I have a very bland taste pallet, so I was worried the most about what I was going to eat, but the food was honestly a highlight of that trip. At Northern I am most thankful for how close everything is.
