International Programs

A world of opportunities for domestic and international students.
There has never been a better, or more important, time for students to take advantage of the opportunities internationalization has created. Northern’s Office of International Programs (OIP) is leading the way in guiding students on their journey into this new and exciting world. Our world keeps getting smaller. But at NSU, the international opportunities grow larger every year.

OIP provides the support and infrastructure necessary to take advantage of international opportunities both in our community and abroad. These initiatives include study abroad, grant and research opportunities, international cooperative agreements and co-curricular programming.

Northern’s international students now come from 42 different countries. Our beautiful campus is a welcoming home for those seeking a degree or exchange opportunities. Importantly, the OIP is there to assist students with acculturation, immigration, student life and support in achieving academic and personal success.

The office seeks to promote international awareness, sensitivity to diversity and opportunities to engage the community and campus in cultural activities. Northern€™ hosts an increasing number of international students coming from all over the world. We assist these students with all aspects of Northern life, including:

  • Academic and personal success
  • Acculturation
  • Immigration support
  • Student life programming
The International Programs Office also encourages Northern students to participate in cultural experiences by providing a variety of study and travel abroad opportunities. Students can explore countries such as France, Germany, Korea, Chile and China.
