Financial Aid

At Northern, more than 90 percent of students receive some form of financial aid, totaling more than $18.5 million annually. NSU offers several types of financial aid, including scholarships, grants, loans and work-study. Most aid is awarded on the basis of need.

Northern's Net Price Calculator is a good place to start as you plan how to bestfinance your education.

To receive financial assistance from NSU, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our federal school code is 003466. Learn more about the FAFSA HERE.

New for 2017-18
Two changes to the FAFSA will take effect for the 2017-18 school year:

1. The FAFSA will be available earlier (October 1 instead of January 1).

2. The FAFSA will collect income information from an earlier tax year.

Simply put, the 2017-18 FAFSA is available now. This application collects 2015 tax information, and most people will be able to transfer their tax numbers from the IRS directly to their FAFSA. Students who wish to receive aid for the 2017-18 academic year should complete their application as soon as possible.

To receive maximum consideration for financial aid, apply no later than March 1 of the year you wish to enroll.
