Striving Solo Parent Scholarship 

Deadline: September 21, 2023

Summary: One $1,000 scholarship available to a single parent pursuing a college degree. Must be a U.S. citizen and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in most recently completed academic semester. Essay on one of the given topics, no more that 1,500 words.

Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Deadline: October 13, 2023

Summary: Applicant must have recently graduated from high school and be pursuing a college degree. Applicants and their families must have been consistently active and involved in agriculture, 4-H, and/or the Watertown Winter Farm Show. Multiple scholarships awarded; scholarship award(s) vary.

Scholarship for Nontraditional Students

Deadline: November 1, 2023
Summary: $1,000 will be provided to a nontraditional student. Must be accepted by or enrolled in a college or university in the United States. Must be an enrolled (or accepted) student in an accredited college or university who is planning on continuing the next year. Graduating high school seniors who meet the above-mentioned criteria may apply. Must have a minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours still to be completed. Must consent to provide a digital photograph of self and quote for display on Study.com if notified as the award winner by the selection committee.

Dylan Sidoo Grant 2023

Deadline: November 15

Summary: The Dylan Sidoo Grant is for student athletes dedicated to academics and personal growth. Available to student athletes who are currently enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited institution. Must submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words on the topic “How has your experience as a student athlete shaped your aspirations for the future, and how do you plan to use your education and athletic skills to give back to your community?”

Future of Connectivity Scholarship

Deadline: November 25, 2023
Summary: Awards $2,500 to a U.S. student pursuing a technology, business, or marketing field of study who demonstrates creativity and a clear understanding of the Internet of Things (IoT) through a 1,000-word creative nonfiction essay. Any undergraduate or graduate student from the U.S. is eligible to apply. Applicants are asked to write an essay that analyzes the current state of IoT and predicts how it might influence the world and their own lives in 15 years. The winner will be awarded for their innovative ideas, not their academic merit.

SDSWMA Scholarship

Summary: Applicant must be a South Dakota resident planning to pursue a career that supports protection and enhancement of our natural resources and environment, the solid waste industry and/or related fields. Requires three letters of reference and a cover letter that contains required material.

Howard Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: The 2023-2024 application period for the Howard Memorial Scholarship has closed. New applications will be available in early 2024. 

Summary: Applicants must be residents of Brown County OR plan to attend Northern State University regardless of where they live. Requires application, page one of the federal income tax return, and a transcript. Scholarships up to $3,000 available.

 

Allied Van Lines Scholarship 2023

Deadline: December 15, 2023

Summary: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and enrolled in an accredited college or university. Requires an online application and a 400- to 800-word essay, detailing why logistics/supply chain management is your college major of choice.

Changing the World Scholarship

Summary: The Changing the World Scholarship is designed to help undergraduate college students pursuing a STEM major by offering a $1,000 award each semester throughout the United States. You must be at least 17 years of age or older and a permanent U.S. resident or citizen. Must also be an undergraduate student pursuing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree.

Summary: Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident and enrolled in an accredited college or university with a cumulative grade average of 2.75 or higher. Requires an online application and a brief two-minute video statement on "How will your education benefit you, your family, and your community?"

Rudy Webster Family & Community Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be enrolled in or plan to enroll in a program consistent with the importance of providing equal access to the civil justice system to all. Applicants must write a 500-word essay on one of the questions provided; be enrolled as an undergraduate or in their final year of high school; and be 17 or older.

South Dakota Board of Regents Scholarships

South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be South Dakota students who attended an eligible higher education institution in South Dakota. Requires composite ACT score of 24 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and completion of the high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum. Guaranteed to all students who qualify, $7,500 over four years.
