NOAA's Ernest F Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship
Deadline: January 31, 2023
Summary: This scholarship is through the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration and recognizes outstanding students in NOAA mission fields, including but not limited to oceanic, environmental, biological, and atmospheric sciences, mathematics, engineering, remote sensing technology, computer and information science, physical and social sciences including geography, physics, hydrology, geomatics, or teacher education that support NOAA's programs and mission. Scholars receives up to $9500 per academic year and paid summer internships opportunities.

Electric Member Cooperative Scholarship Program

Summary: Requires an online submission and an essay about what challenges face rural electric cooperatives in the coming years and how you think these challenges should be addressed. One $1,000 and one $500 scholarship.

POET Never Satisfied Scholarship
Deadline: February 13, 2023
Summary: POET will be awarding twelve scholarships of up to $5,000 each to students enrolled in the 2023 Fall Semester at any two- or four-year post-secondary school, regardless of major or GPA. At least one scholarship will be reserved for an applicant whose parent, sibling, aunt/uncle, or grandparent works at any POET location.

Marlin R. Scarborough Memorial Scholarship

Summary: Applicant must be a junior with a 3.5 GPA, attending a South Dakota public institution at the time funding is received. Requires application and essay. One $1,500 scholarship.

Witzelben Scholarship
Deadline: April 1 each year
Summary: Applicant must be a high school graduate residing on the Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota and North Dakota. The applicant will need to reflect personal integrity, individual character, and demonstrate an interest in humanitarian issues. Requires a brief essay, a copy of their high school transcript, and two reference letters. One must be from a teacher. One $1,000 scholarship.
Gerash Steiner Blanton P.C. 2022 Undergraduate Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university. Must be a legal resident of the U.S. Requires one 500-word essay about why you think something that is currently legal should be illegal. One $1,000 scholarship.

New Image Dental Scholarship for Underserved Populations

Summary: $2000 dollar scholarship being offered in honor of underserved populations. This scholarship provides financial aid to minority students to help offset tuition costs, student loans, and other expenses. All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing, submit a personal resume and a 750-word essay, and an unofficial transcript.

Summary: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is enrolled in a post-secondary institution with a GPA of 2.75 or higher. Applicants also must be in good academic standing but at risk of not returning to or graduating/ completing due to an outstanding financial need, and/or emergency situation that leads to a financial aid crisis. Requires a two-minute video statement explaining how education will benefit you, your family, and the community. Recipients are awarded $2,500.

Howard Memorial Scholarship

Summary: Applicants for the Howard Memorial Scholarship must be residents of Brown County OR plan to attend Northern State University regardless of where they live. Requires application, page one of the federal income tax return, and a transcript. Scholarships up to $3,000 available.
South Dakota Board of Regents Scholarships
South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be South Dakota students who attended an eligible higher education institution in South Dakota. Requires composite ACT score of 24 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and completion of the high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum. Guaranteed to all students who qualify, $6,500 over four years.
