Holiday Sale at the NSU Wolf Shoppe

The NSU Wolf Shoppe Holiday Sale continues this week through Wednesday, Dec. 15. Take 20 percent off all clothing and giftware!

 

Salvation Army Angel Tree

The Millicent Atkins School of Education invites the NSU campus to support children in our community this holiday season through the Salvation Army Angel Tree. A tree full of tags with children's wish lists are located directly across from the main office in the School of Education. Tags and gifts are due back Dec. 13, 2021.

 

Duvall Senior Art Exhibition

Dylan Duvall will have his Senior Art Exhibition on display through Dec. 13 in the NSU Avera Student Center Art Gallery. His exhibition will consist of a range of artwork, including video, posters and photography. 

 

Brandner Senior Art Exhibition

Madeline Brandner will have her Senior Art Exhibition on display through Dec. 14 in the NSU Lincoln Gallery. Digital photography and paintings will be displayed in this exhibition, titled “Ephemera.”

 

Schleich Senior Art Exhibition

Angela Schleich will have her Senior Art Exhibition on display through Dec. 14 in the NSU Lincoln Gallery. Her exhibition will include her digital photography, digital paintings and oil paintings.

 

Virtual Cheer Tryouts

Students: Join the NSU Basketball Cheer Team for the spring 2022 semester with a virtual tryout! Tryout requirements include:

  • Why you want to be part of the NSU Cheer Team
  • Experience stunting
  • Chant
  • Two jumps
  • Band dance

Tryouts must be submitted by Dec. 15. To submit your virtual tryout or ask questions, contact Coach Erin Drew-Evenson at erin.drew@northern.edu.

 

Midwest Clinic

NSU Online and Continuing Education and Graduate Studies will be at the 75th Annual Midwest Clinic at the McCormick Place West in Chicago, Ill. Come see us at booth 543! Dates and times are as follows:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 15, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Dec. 16, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 17, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

 

Northern Lights Submissions

Northern Lights is now taking submissions for the 2022 issue of Northern Lights. Students can submit their stories, poetry, art, creative nonfiction, photography, original essays and songs to northernlights@northern.edu or message us on Facebook! Accepted submissions will be included in our literary magazine that is released in March 2022. Please submit all written works as a Word document (.docx) or a PDF (.pdf), and any artworks as a JPEG (.jpeg) or JPG (.jpg) file. Submissions are open until Dec. 31, 2021. If you have any questions, including how to submit, contact Lead President Madi Filber, madi.filber@wolves.northern.edu.

 

Aberdeen Area Pride Meeting

Aberdeen Area Pride is holding a monthly get-together of the LGBTQ+ members of the community (allies, family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend as well). The get-together, sponsored by NSU Multicultural Student Affairs, will take place 3:30-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Aberdeen’s Red Rooster Coffee House, 218 S Main St. It will be a time and place for people of all ages to hang out together with other LGBTQ+ members of the community in a space where they can feel safe, seen and loved. There is no agenda to these meetings. Let's all just get to know each other!

 

Cracker Barrels

Legislative Cracker Barrel sessions for 2022 will be held in the Kessler’s Champions Club in the NSU Barnett Center. Cracker barrels, which are open to the public, will take place 10 a.m.-noon on the following Saturday mornings:

  • Jan. 29, 2022
  • Feb. 12, 2022
  • March 5, 2022

 

JFAC Gallery Exhibition

Artist Aaron C. Packard will have an exhibition, “Hyper-Photomontage,” on display in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery through Feb. 4, 2022. A closing reception, free and open to the public, will be held 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4. Packard is an experienced commercial and editorial photographer, working in southeast South Dakota since 2002. “Hyper-Photomontage” features vibrant and abstract, almost kaleidoscope-like photographs that encourage the viewer to linger in observation. HOWLING WOLVES - December

This month’s prize is a ROKU STICK!!

HOW TO EARN POINTS:

All regular season home competitions are worth 10 points. Some games are worth 20 points and are promoted as “Double Howling Wolves Points” games. If you attend two or more separate athletic events in the same day (i.e. football and volleyball) then you will receive an additional 5 points for that day. Double-header events (i.e. basketball, baseball, and softball) are worth 10 points throughout the entirety of the doubleheader. 

All points reset each month allowing for a new opportunity each month to win the monthly prize. 

All home athletic events are FREE for NSU Students who have a valid student ticket so there is no required cost to be a part of the Howling Wolves.

All Howling Wolves members are highly encouraged to sit in the designated Student Section at all home athletic events. Become an active member of the Howling Wolves Student Fan Club and help us defend our territory! GO WOLVES!!

**Points earned while working Wolves athletic events are excluded
**Points and events are subject to change without notice
**Playoff games and exhibitions are excluded unless noted otherwise

EXPECTATIONS OF HOWLING WOLVES MEMBERS:

  1. Have your student ticket at games to earn points
  2. Stand together in the Howling Wolves Student Section
  3. Cheer loud and make noise
  4. Stand up, clap, and sing along with the NSU Fight Song
  5. Stay for the entirety of the game
