Career Advancement Through Study Abroad

The event, Career Advancement Through Study Abroad, will take place today (Monday, Nov. 8) at 2 p.m. in the Student Center Maroon Room.

Thursday, Nov. 11, is Veteran’s Day

It is a celebration to honor all of America’s veterans, living or dead, especially giving thanks to living veterans for patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice in war or peacetime. However, we cannot forget the fallen, prisoners of war, or missing in action. As you enter the dining hall this week, you may notice a small table in a place of honor. It is set for one. This table is our way of symbolizing the fact that many service men and women died, were taken prisoner, or are still missing. They are unable to be with us during this time of celebration, so we remember them in reverent silence.

Northern Theatre Presents ‘An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein’

REE Performances will run at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 20 as well as at 3 p.m. on Nov. 20 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theater. "An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein" features a collection of short plays by the famed poet and writer. Each darkly comedic play revels in Silverstein’s witty—and at times shocking—sense of humor. This is a mature-audiences production.

Northern Edge Award

The Northern Edge Award is a new funding opportunity that started in spring 2020. This award was designed to augment existing funding sources for undergraduate scholarship at NSU. It is especially intended to aid student projects in under-represented disciplines and/or projects that may not be eligible/competitive for other funding opportunities on campus (i.e. student travel grants, or the Competitive Research Grant). Faculty-mentored projects may receive up to $1,000 that can be used for traditional research expenses or discipline-specific costs such as travel for performances/exhibits. The application process is more streamlined, but still requires a budget detail and narrative. The application deadline this semester is 5 p.m. Nov. 12. For more information on how students can apply for this award, please visit www.northern.edu/undergraduate-research. For questions, contact NSU’s Undergraduate Research Coordinator at andrew.russell@northern.edu.
