TODD DUFAULT is a premier Leadership Education and Training Consultant dedicated to "Building Better Leaders & People."   With a career spanning over 40 years, Todd has partnered with schools, organizations, corporations, and athletic teams to architect high-performance cultures rooted in servant leadership, trust, and a growth mindset.
As a John Maxwell Certified Speaker and former High School Activities Director, Todd understands that the heart of a great school isn’t its facilities—it’s the people. He has spent decades architecting high-performance cultures for organizations ranging from corporate giants to great athletic teams to elite band programs like the 18-time BOA Finalist Rosemount High School Marching Band.
Today, Todd challenges us to move beyond "compliance" and toward a culture of commitment.   Through his "7 Pillars of Success," he provides educators with the tools to lead through sacrifice, cultivate a growth mindset, and foster the deep trust necessary to empower the next generation.

dreams.

Participants enrolled in the EDFN 492/592 course will be required to submit an engagement activity in the first week. A reflection paper is also required to be submitted by Sunday, November 1, 2026. Per NSU Policy: Any student enrolled in a workshop course for credit is required to pay the $40 workshop fee and complete the week 1 attendance engagement activity assigned by the instructor (see course syllabus or announcements). Failure to make payment and submit the attendance engagement activity by the third week of the course will result in the student being dropped from the course. Once dropped, students cannot be re-enrolled.

Application

To register for the undergraduate or graduate level companion course for the workshop “When Everything Feels Urgent: Teaching and Leading in the Anxious Age”, click on the “Register” button below.
Participants interested in completing the companion course for graduate or undergraduate credit need to complete a new application each year. This allows NSU’s IT team to create or reactivate your student email so you can access the course in D2L (Desire 2 Learn).
To login to the application system, you should always use your personal email. If you’ve completed an application previously, you should select the “Returning User” option. If you are applying to take the companion course for the first time, you should select the “First-time User" option.
If you do not remember the personal email you used to apply previously, the Online Learning & Continuing Education office can look up your email address on your account. If you don’t remember your password for the application, you can click “Forgot Password” and the system will send you a temporary pin to login. You can then enter a new password from there.
The application will ask you to provide your personal information, and select which credit level of the course you would like to be enrolled in. All participants must provide a digital signature on the “Student Certification” section of the application and click “Submit” in the “Review for Submission” section.
Note: If you do not click submit on the application, it will only show as “In progress” and the OLCE office will not be able to process your application.

Registration

When applications are submitted, the Online Learning and Continuing Education office will process the application and enroll participants in the desired section of the course. All participants will receive a registration confirmation email from online@northern.edu to the email address on their application. This will confirm registration and provide information on how participants can set up their Wolves email address and access the course in D2L, and additional requirements.

Accessing the Course and Course Materials

Once you set up your Wolves email you will login into D2L to gain access to the course. If you’re registering before the first day of the term, the course may not be displayed yet as instructors have until the first day of the semester to activate their course. As the course will run from August 24, 2026, to December 16, 2026, instructors may not have the course available on the day of the seminar. For participants enrolling in the companion course, the presentation will be available in the course shell for you to review during the term.
“The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness” by Jonathan Haidt will be required for participants enrolling in the course.
