NSU Facilities Manager Monte Mehlhoff has issued a Regional Science Education Center construction update for this week.

Workers continue to install overhead piping on first floor south; carriers in restrooms on second floor north; and VAV on second floor south. The HVAC contractor is installing main runs on first floor south and beginning the spiral on second floor south.

Framers are wrapping up bulkheads on first and second floors north. They also are framing roller shade alcoves in the prep/research windows on first and second floors south.  Tapers are finishing walls on first floor south to prepare for painting. Second floor north wing exterior walls are getting topped out and interior walls will follow.

The spray foam contractor is finishing the underside of the south pod and has half of the exterior mechanical room wall on the south finished.

Masons weren't on site this week because of cold temperatures.

Carpenters have finished installing most in-wall backing on the interior and plan to finish the south courtyard façade by Feb. 1. Workers have begun installing steel countertop supports in the GIS Lab and hall; when finished, they'll complete the lobby stair precast treads.

Electricians are finishing poke-throughs and rough-ins in all three pods on second floor south. The building now has permanent power, and preparations continue for elevator power needs. Service panels for the labs have been installed on first and second floors south.
