NSU Facilities Manager Monte Mehlhoff's campus construction update focuses on construction of a new parking lot and the Regional Science Education Center, and work inside the campus physical plant.

The new dorms and athletic fields are all but finished.

Regional Science Education Center

The steel crew has completed erecting the greenhouse and continues with detailing in the north wing. Base course under-slab gravel in the north wing  has been placed, and most of the concrete for the south wing is in place. Slab prep continues in the north wing.

Plumbers continue with rough-ins for slabs and the greenhouse, and with roof drain work. Electricians are working on rough-ins for slabs. Inner duct to the building has been completed.

Workers are building exterior wall framing in the south wing and have started sheathing on the exterior walls. They also have started interior wall framing on the south wing's second floor.

The carpenter crew has started wood blocking at the roof  parapet in the south wing.

Storm sewer work is done for this year; the remainder will be completed in the spring.

Herret Street Parking Lot

Bids are due Sept. 19 for a parking lot on the corner of South Herret Street and 15th Avenue S.E. that will hold about 150 cars.

Barnett Center

Roof work continues on the upper portion on the northeast corner of building, and rock removal is about 75 percent complete on the upper level.

Physical Plant

Both boilers are in place and the No. 2 boiler is piped. Piping to the No. 3 boiler will begin Sept. 17.
