Ashley Jenkins seems to do a little of everything—and to do it with an enthusiasm that is infectious, as all who have worked with her will attest. She is the PR representative for The Honors Club, keeping people updated on events through social media, and taking pictures. She is also currently working on her honors thesis, which applies Erik Erikson’s critical approach to the “Harry Potter” series. Jenkins has also brought her leadership skills to her role as president of the English Club, and in that capacity has worked to expand the club’s membership, activities and outreach; her accomplishments include starting English Club game nights, organizing a community fundraiser and spearheading a regular show on NSU TV, “English Club TV.” In explaining her motivation to create the show, Jenkins says, “I love getting the chance to chat with professors about their path to 'professoring,' and having in-depth discussions about literary topics like King Arthur and Shakespeare.”

Many students will know Ashley Jenkins from her role at the Tutoring Center as a reading tutor, where she primarily works with the students in the READ 041 class. (Currently she is discussing “Brave New World,” one of her favorite novels.) In addition to these roles, she also reports and writes news stories for The Exponent, NSU's student newspaper

After graduation, Jenkins plans to teach high school English. Her experience as a TA in Survey of British Literature I, as well as her time mentoring students one-on-one at the Tutoring Center, has solidified her desire to teach. She is also considering the possibility of going on to graduate studies in literature at some point in the future.

In addition to her love for literature, Jenkins is enthusiastic about Spanish (her minor, and possibly a double major), Broadway musicals, and podcasts.
