End of Semester Sale at the NSU Wolf Shoppe

The NSU Wolf Shoppe will have an End-of-Semester Sale Monday, April 29, through Friday, May 3. Take 20 percent off all clothing and giftware.

Textbook Buyback at the NSU Wolf Shoppe

The NSU Wolf Shoppe will hold textbook buyback Monday, April 29, through Friday, May, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Provost Finalists on Campus

Northern provost finalists will visit campus this week, with open forums held at the following times and locations:

  • Dr. Michael Wanous: Monday, April 29, 4-4:45 p.m.; Missouri River Room
  • Dr. Tim Crowley: Wednesday, May 1, 4-4:45 p.m.; Missouri River Room

'A Writer Reads' Event

Students of NSU’s ENGL 478: Creative Writing, Poetry class will offer readings of their work from the course on Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. in the Williams Library Round Room. Read more about "A Writer Reads" events here.

‘Pet Your Stress Away’

TRIO SSS is hosting a “Pet Your Stress Away” event at noon Wednesday, May 1, on the campus green. The Aberdeen Area Humane Society will bring dogs to campus for students and staff to interact with as a stress relief activity. Donations will be collected in DH 101 from now until May 1 and will be gifted to the Humane Society during their visit to campus. Some items to consider donating are: dry dog and cat food, liquid laundry detergent, dish soap, 13-gallon trash bags, liquid hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, hand sanitizer and Ziploc sandwich bags.

NSU Noon Forum

Retiring NSU Director of Theater Dan Yurgaitis will present “The Last Lecture I’d Ever Give” during the final spring 2019 Noon Forum on Wednesday, May 1. The session, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the NSU Williams Library Round Room.

Delta Mu Delta Event

On Friday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m., the School of Business will welcome 17 of its scholastic-achieving graduating seniors into the Delta Mu Delta international honorary society in the Lincoln Gallery. Faculty, families and friends are welcome to attend.

Distinguished Alumni Banquet

Please join alumni and friends on Friday, May 3, at 5:30 p.m. at the Dakota Event Center to celebrate the induction of four Distinguished Alumni. Social Hour will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. with dinner and a program to follow. We want to provide a huge “welcome back” to these successful NSU graduates. Please RSVP to nsualumni@northern.edu by Friday, April 26, if you would like to attend. Tickets are $25/adults and $10/children. Spring Commencement

Northern State University spring commencement ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, in the NSU Barnett Center. Aberdeen Public School District Superintendent Dr. Becky Guffin, a 2019 NSU Distinguished Alumna, will deliver the commencement address. Learn more at the NSU Graduation and Commencement Page.

Rental Textbooks

Spring semester rental textbooks are due back May 9 at the NSU Wolf Shoppe!

Mental Health First Aid for Higher Education Training

You are invited to attend Mental Health First Aid for Higher Education training on May 13 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and May 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is an eight-hour course split between the two days, so attendance on both days is necessary to complete it. Anyone, anywhere can be the one to make a difference in the life of someone with a mental health or substance use challenge, if they know what to do and what to say. This training is sponsored by the NSU Campus Community Coalition and NSU Counseling Center. Heather Aldentaler, Director of Counseling Services, and Dodi Haug of the Northeastern Prevention Center will be the instructors. Spots are limited, so please sign up as soon as possible. Volunteer Opportunity

May Overby Elementary School is looking for afternoon crossing guards! Typically, a shift runs from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. Contact Mike.Neubert@k12.sd.us if interested. This school is seeing an increase in traffic due to NSU construction projects.

‘Pursuing Palestine’ exhibition in JFAC Gallery

Artist Noelle Rasmussen’s “Pursuing Palestine” exhibition will be on display in the NSU Fine Arts Center Gallery through June 7.
