Vote for Gypsy Days 2019 Theme

NSU Student Involvement and Leadership has created a list of suggested themes for Gypsy Days 2019, and now they want to hear from you! Please vote on one of the themes on the online form by clicking here, or add your own theme at the bottom of the form. Voting will close at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25.

Be Part of Wolves Watch

Looking for an opportunity to serve your campus community while being paid? Here is your opportunity to become involved. Campus Safety is looking for students who are interested in being a part of Wolves Watch. The primary purpose of Wolves Watch is to meet fellow students anywhere on campus and walk with them to ensure safe arrival at their destination (library, parking lot, residence hall, etc.). Trained members will also be eligible to work as additional security for large university events. Sign up online using the Wolves Watch Application.

SGA Filling Empty Seats

Calling all NSU business and international students! The Student Government Association (SGA) is looking to fill the empty Business Seat and International Seat. If you are interested in becoming an SGA Senator, come to our meeting Tuesday night at 9 p.m. in the Missouri River Room! Contact Shanae Doerr or Tyler Harris for more information!

PBL/Business Club Fundraising Event

The PBL/Business Club will be holding a fundraising event at Culver’s on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. The club will be receiving a percentage of the profits during those hours. Take your friends and family out to dinner and support your PBL/Business Club!

PBL/Business Club Collecting Clothing Donations

The School of Business’ Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Chapter/Business Club will be taking donations of professional clothing from the Aberdeen community through Jan. 25 to prepare for their second annual Clothing Drive/Workshop on Jan. 29 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in the NSU Centennial Rooms. PBL/Business Club is looking for donations of clean, professional clothing in good condition, including black pants, dress pants, button-down shirts, tops, blazers, khakis, dress skirts, dress shoes and accessories for women; as well as black pants, button-down shirts, polos, khakis, suit coats/jackets, ties, dress shoes and belts for men. Boxes for donations can be found on campus in Lincoln Hall Room 101 and Spafford Hall Room 204. For more information, please contact Drs. Spring Study Abroad Fair

On Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, the Spring Study Abroad Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2pm in the Student Center. Come meet our study abroad partners, faculty summer program leaders, Confucius Center and study abroad advisor to learn more about what study abroad is all about and how it can benefit you for the rest of your life!

Study Abroad Program Workshop

Are you interested in teaching a group of students abroad? The Office of International Programs is hosting a Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program Workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 3-4:30 p.m. in the Student Center Maroon Room. All faculty interested in leading a study abroad program are welcome and encouraged to attend. Participants will learn more about the faculty-led process and hear from experienced leaders and a study abroad affiliate representative with significant experience in faculty-led program coordination. Refreshments will be served.

NSU Opera presentsSpeed Dating Tonight’

Northern State University Opera will present the dinner and show event, Michael Ching’s “Speed Dating Tonight!” This comic, one-act opera doesn’t include any actual speed dating, but is meant to reflect the real-life quirks of modern dating and is comprised of 90-second “dates” which are brief arias and duets. The event will take place Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ward Hotel in conjunction with Roma’s Ristorante Italiano. Tickets are $35 per person and covers meal, tip and tax, and show ticket. 60 seats are available for both showings, and will be available online until 4 hours before the first showing. Purchase tickets online here or purchase at the door before the show using cash or check.

Lions Club Pancake Feed

The Lions Club will hold a pancake feed 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, in the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired gym. Freewill donations will be taken at the door. All proceeds will go to help kids and families in Aberdeen with sight issues, including free glasses for kids and eye screening equipment. Learn more about Lions International global causes here.

Wolves Triathlon Registration

Registration is now open for the Wolves Triathlon, hosted by the Northern State Swim Team. The date of the event is April 14. For more information and to register, visit the Wolves Triathlon webpage.

NSU Teacher Job Fair

The third annual NSU Teacher Job Fair will take place on Friday, Feb. 8, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Student Center Centennial Rooms.  The event will begin with round-table discussions led by school administrators, followed by a job fair and candidate interviews. Candidates should check Wolf Work regularly for participating schools and openings. Professional dress and résumés are required. The NSU Teacher Job Fair is co-sponsored by the Millicent Atkins School of Education and Career Services.  For additional information, please contact the Field Experiences Office or Career Services

B.I.G. (Business – Industry – Government) and South Dakota Teacher Job Fairs

The annual B.I.G. (Business – Industry – Government) and South Dakota Teacher Job Fairs will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Entrance to both fairs is free for students who pre-register online or with Career Services. Pre-registration also includes a professional free, digital portrait.  All other attendees will be required to pay $10 at-the-door for entrance. The deadline to pre-register is Feb. 10. Primrose Arts and Lecture Series

The 2018-19 NSU-Primrose Arts and Lecture Series will take place throughout the academic school year at Aberdeen's Primrose Retirement Community, located at 1701 Third Avenue S.E.

Feb. 12: "Hub City History: Preserving and Presenting the Past in the NSU Archives"; presented by Mr. Robert Russell, director of Beulah Williams Library.

March 12: "Ceramic Form and Fragment: Artwork of Gratia Brown"; presented by Ms. Gratia Brown, Assistant Professor of Art.

April 9: "NSU:  At Home in the World - An Overview of NSU's International Programs"; presented by Dr. Leigh Neys, director of International Programs.

Aberdeen Area & NSU Employment Expo and Job Fair

Save the date for the Aberdeen Area & NSU Employment Expo and Job Fair, slated for Wednesday, March 27, in the Barnett Center. A partnership between NSU Career Services and the South Dakota Department of Labor, this fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to all NSU students and community members. Free Zumba in Dacotah Hall

Zumba with ZIN Lara Nelson will take place Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Dacotah Hall Dance Studio through Feb. 27. Free to all students and staff!
