I’m pleased to share that Dr. Michael Wanous has accepted the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs position. He will start July 1, 2019.

Dr. Wanous will be a catalyst for future program development at Northern. He will also be tasked with furthering relationships with area employers and strengthening our current academic programs.

Provost Wanous will represent the faculty as the chief academic officer on campus. Working with the deans, directors and academic affairs, he will explore ways to enhance the student experience, including through “high impact” educational practices such as undergraduate research and service learning.

These components will lead Northern into the next decade and solidify our status as an outstanding higher educational institution within the region.

I am excited to welcome Dr. Wanous and his wife, Martha, to our campus and community. Please help me in welcoming the Wanous family to Aberdeen.

I also want to thank the hiring committee for their dedication and focus during this process. I especially want to thank Dr. Joelle Lien for her excellent service during her time as our Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
