Student Spotlight: Hannah Higdon

Hannah Rose Higdon, a senior at Northern State University, is a triple major in communication studies, political science and history.

Having grown up on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in Dupree, S.D., Higdon came to Northern for its small class sizes—a feature that very much reminded her of home.

Student Spotlight: Balie Albrecht

Balie Albrecht, a senior in Northern State University’s School of Fine Arts, is a music education major dedicated to inspiring positivity in her prospective students’ lives.

Originally from Rapid City, S.D., Albrecht was initially a theater and instrumental music education major before switching entirely to a double music major.

Student Spotlight: Gabriel King

Gabe King, an economics major in Northern’s School of Business, is dedicated towards success in his education as well as his sport of choice—basketball.

Originally from Irene, S.D., King chose economics for its perfect mix of math and government aspects. After taking a micro and macroeconomics class, King knew that economics was for him.

Harrison Bruns, a double major in communication studies and environmental science, is big into conservation and loves nature.

Originally from the Twin Cities, Bruns was on track to attend a larger college, but found it may not be the best choice for him.

Student Spotlight: Megan Lero

Megan Lero, a double major in marketing and management at NSU, is determined to leave a positive impact on those around her.

Originally from Oak Grove, Minn., Lero found herself at NSU after hearing about it at a college fair.

Faculty Snapshot: Dr. George Nora

Dr. George Nora is associate professor of chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at NSU. 

As a professor, Nora hopes to impart knowledge, integrity and a passion for science onto his students. He also makes an effort to interact with many of his students individually.

Student Spotlight: John Litwiller III

John Litwiller, a sophomore in NSU’s School of Fine Arts, is pursuing a B.A. of arts in vocal performance.

Originally from Huron, S.D., Litwiller came to NSU for its small campus size, close proximity to his home, and its “stellar faculty of the fine arts program.”
