As an NSU English major, you'll learn to write clearly, read critically, connect ideas meaningfully, understand diversity, relate historical context to human interactions, and see others empathetically. Northern's English program is structured to help students tailor their major to suit their needs. Each student chooses from several program emphases, each of which prioritizes different skill sets and content to suit students’ own career goals.  

Northern’s environmental science bachelor's degree program merges biological, physical, and information sciences with the study of environmental systems, issues, and solutions to major environmental problems.

As an environmental science major at Northern, you'll study the fascinating interrelation between the natural sciences. You'll examine the relationship between living organisms and the ecosystems in which they live, addressing how humans affect the environment and how you can help reduce or even reverse negative impacts.

As a finance major at NSU, you’ll learn to examine and understand the allocation of financial resources and capital, and master the intricacies of portfolio management. Our small class sizes give you valuable opportunities to interact directly with professors, ask questions, and receive career advice. 

With an NSU degree in finance, you’ll have all the necessary professional skills to enter the workforce or apply to graduate school.

Northern's General Studies bachelor's degree, offered online and on campus, is an option for you if you've earned a significant number of credits toward a degree, but wish to change your program of study. To pursue a BGS degree, you must have a 2.0 GPA.

The BGS program is flexible - you might say it allows you to design your own degree. The program delivers the academic expertise required for a broad range of occupations, while allowing you to follow your passion.

As an NSU history major, you'll use the historical method to investigate important questions about society; perform research and clearly present findings; and identify and explain the significance of important events and issues in American and world history. 

Dedicated NSU faculty will help you make connections across time and space and fine-tune your writing and thinking skills.

As a human performance and fitness major, you’ll be part of a growing program that will help you build a strong sports science foundation through courses such as anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, and exercise physiology.
