"Coming to Aberdeen from my home in Cidra, Puerto Rico for the first time is an experience I will never forget. My now husband’s job was transferred here from Michigan and I made the long trek north to check out everything that the town and area had to offer. I knew nobody when I got here, yet I felt so at home and welcome in every direction I looked. My plan was to head back to Puerto Rico after I had gotten a chance to get a feel for the area and campus, but after having such a great time here I never took my return flight home. I went from being someone who felt completely disconnected from my college experience to someone who wanted to enjoy every moment of my college experience, after transferring to NSU from my old university in Puerto Rico. I remember sitting in my very first class at NSU with Dr. Barclay and knowing that I had truly made the right decision by staying in Aberdeen. That’s one of the things I love about life, the idea that things might not always go the way you expect them to, but eventually things will fall right into place. Whether it be looking for the perfect major for you or just finding what your true calling is in life, it’s okay to take your time and do what you gotta do to be happy. By taking a leap of faith, I’ve been given an abundance of opportunities to grow as a person and in my own academics and I could never be more grateful.” - Jeniree Tirado #beNORTHERN #unleashYOURpotential

I received my B.B.A. in business administration from Iowa State University and my M.A. in English from University of Central Missouri. As a military spouse, I lived across the U.S., Germany, and Japan, and encourage others to explore and experience the amazing world around them. I thoroughly enjoy helping students discover and plan for their futures: to see them grow into confident, always-learning Wolves!
