The Northern State University Symphonic Band and Concert Band will perform their “Band Extravaganza: A Musical Smorgasbord!” concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Main Theater. ABERDEEN, S.D. – Taylor Wall and Michael Benjamin Weber will hold a senior recital at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 30, in Northern State University’s Krikac Auditorium.
Wall, the daughter of Kevin and Jody Wall, grew up in Breckenridge, Minn., graduating from Breckenridge High School in 2013.
Weber, the son of Michael and Angela Weber, grew up in Rapid City, graduating from St. Thomas More High School in 2013.
The exhibition opening for “Of Land and Dreams” will be 6-8 p.m. April 21 in the JFAC Gallery. An Artist Talk will take place noon-1 p.m. April 21, also in the JFAC Gallery. “Of Land and Dreams” is a collective of local students, faculty and community members in Aberdeen and beyond who have come together over the course of nearly two years of dialogue with guest artists, Teri Rueb and Alan Price. The project encourages people to submit their own images, video clips or audio recordings to create a locally driven portrait of the region, thus the group expands with every contribution.
The “Vibrant Bounty: Chinese Folk Art from the Shaanxi Region” art exhibition is currently on display in the Northern State University Beulah Williams Library. A reception for the exhibition will take place 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, in the library. The Confucius Institute of NSU will sponsor the reception, which is free and open to the public. This exhibition, which will be on display at the library through May 25, was organized by ExhibitsUSA, a program of Mid-America Arts Alliance.
The reception for Maggie Martinmaas’ senior art exhibition will be April 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Northern State University Student Center Gallery. Her exhibition will be up April 24-May 5. Martinmaas will display lithography, sequential art, comics and animations.
Carrie Wegleitner’s senior art exhibition will be on display in the Northern State University Faculty Gallery beginning on April 24.
