NSU students hosting ‘Gaming Through Life’ event

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Students in a Northern State University public relations class are hosting an awareness event next week for Northern’s sociology program.

“Gaming Through Life” will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the lobby of Great Plains East residence hall.

Attendees can learn about Northern’s sociology program while eating pizza and playing video games.

All students are welcome to this free event.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Students in a Northern State University public relations class are hosting an awareness event this week for the Aberdeen Curling Club.

The event will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the lobby of new Jewett Regional Science Education Center.

A video will be shown about the Aberdeen Curling Club, and members of the club will be present to answer any questions about the organization. Attendees can also participate in a curling floor game.

All are welcome to this free event.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – During medical school, Dr. William Hampton was known as “the trumpet player guy”—he would often set up in the lobby of the student center and play his horn during breaks from studying.

Music and medicine are both major parts of Hampton’s life, and thanks to an educational start at Northern State University, he got to pursue both.

Northern alum Dr. Darryl Tonemah returns to Aberdeen for performance

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Acclaimed singer, songwriter, psychologist, author and actor Dr. Darryl Tonemah returns to Northern State University for a special performance at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.

Tonemah’s “Story and Song Concert,” sponsored by the NSU Native American Student Association, will commemorate Native American Month. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Krikac Auditorium.

Northern State University Honors alum Joseph Keryakos publishes honors thesis

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Honors alum Joseph Keryakos has recently published his honors thesis in the American Journal of Undergraduate Research.

Keryakos came to NSU as an international student from Lebanon and joined the NSU Honors Program his sophomore year. During his time at Northern, Keryakos discovered the topic of his publication after various visits to the dentist.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The open house for Northern State University’s new Harvey C. Jewett IV Regional Science Education Center is now scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.

The science center is located at the corner of Twelfth Avenue Southeast and South State Street. Self-led tours will be encouraged, with students and faculty stationed throughout the building to show off each feature.

2019-20 NSU-Primrose Arts and Lecture Series starts Oct. 8
