NSU Winter Commencement set for Saturday, Dec. 11

ABERDEEN, S.D. – On Saturday, Dec. 11, 94 students will graduate from Northern State University at its 2021 winter commencement.

The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center. Delivering the commencement address will be Dr. Kristi Bockorny, associate professor of management and marketing, the 2021 NSU Foundation Faculty Excellence Award. Student speaker will be Jacob Swanson, 2021-22 president of the Student Government Association.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Starting Monday, Dec. 6, artist Aaron C. Packard will have an exhibition on display in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery.

The exhibition, “Hyper-Photomontage,” will be on display through Feb. 4, 2022. A closing reception will take place 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, in the JFAC Gallery.

NSU Concerto/Aria Competition set for Nov. 18

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The 2021 Northern State University Concerto/Aria Competition will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18.

Northern fine arts students will compete in both vocal and instrumental categories at the annual competition, which will be held in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center’s Jewett Theater.

NSU Bands to present ‘Local Colors’ on Nov. 21

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Bands will present a concert, “Local Colors,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

The event will include performances by the NSU Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Rolf Olson, and NSU Concert Band, conducted by Dr. Audrey Miller.

Featured at the concert will be “Pink Ribbon” by Christopher Stanichar and “Hymn to a Blue Hour” by John Mackey.
