  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Banking and Financial Services master’s degree program is now offered completely online – making it even more convenient for professionals looking to advance their career.

    The program used to require a summer residency, but students would often have to use vacation time to come to campus, said NSU School of Business Interim Dean Dr. Doug Ohmer. If it didn’t work out, they would have to wait an entire year before they could finish the program.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University School of Business and the NSU Phi Beta Lambda/Business Club are sponsoring a series of seminars this fall on the Northern campus.

    Each session of “Investing in Yourself Student Seminars” takes place in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center Room 117. The series kicked off earlier this week with Northern alum Gene Lorenz presenting “Building Your Financial Capital – Investing in Your Future.”

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – In November, the Aberdeen University Civic Symphony (AUCS) orchestra celebrates 100 years of music making in Aberdeen with its opening concert: “Happy Birthday, AUCS!”

    The concert will take place Nov. 9 at 7:30 P.M. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center.   • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Acclaimed singer, songwriter, psychologist, author and actor Dr. Darryl Tonemah returns to Northern State University for a special performance at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.

    Tonemah’s “Story and Song Concert,” sponsored by the NSU Native American Student Association, will commemorate Native American Month. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Krikac Auditorium.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – On Nov. 14, the Northern State University School of Fine Arts invites you to “Fall Into Jazz” at a concert on the NSU campus.

    The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theatre. The event will feature performances by the 2 O’Clock Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Grant Manhart; the 1 O’Clock Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Terry Beckler; and the NSU Jazz Trio and Jazz Combo, both directed by Mr. Fritz Hemke.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Four out of the five awards given out at the recent NAFSA Region IV Conference went to the Northern State University Office of International Programs—more awards than any one institution has ever received in one year.

    NAFSA is a premiere organization committed to advancing international higher education. The awards were given out at the annual conference for NAFSA’s Region IV, which includes Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota and South Dakota.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dr. Erin Hogan Fouberg has been named the new Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Northern State University.

    Fouberg, professor of geography and director of the NSU Honors Program, joined Northern’s faculty in 2007 and was awarded NSU Outstanding Faculty Member in 2011.

    Keryakos came to NSU as an international student from Lebanon and joined the NSU Honors Program his sophomore year. During his time at Northern, Keryakos discovered the topic of his publication after various visits to the dentist.
