Dr. Benjamin “Jack” Young joined the Northern State University faculty in 2026 as an Assistant Professor of History. He teaches, researches, and writes in the field of US history, with interests in the intersections of religion, political economy, and metropolitan development in the twentieth century. Before coming to Northern, he was the C. Austin Buck Family National Fellow at the Jefferson Scholars Foundation at the University of Virginia, which supported his final year of dissertation writing. He is now at work transforming that dissertation into his first book, entitled Suburban Awakening: The Rise of the Metropolitan South and the Making of Modern American Evangelicalism.
