Marlin R. Scarborough Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Feb. 14, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a junior at the time funding is received, attending a S.D. public institution, and have a 3.5 GPA. Requires application and essay. One $1,500 scholarship to be awarded.

 

Northern Electric Cooperative Scholarship

DeadlineFeb. 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a member-system consumer/cooperative or dependent of a member, currently enrolled, or planned to be enrolled full-time in a graduate or undergraduate program. Requires application, essay, transcripts, ACT scores (if incoming freshman), and applicant appraisal. One $1,000 and one $500 scholarship.

 

Fallen Heroes Scholarship

Deadline: March 1, 2019

Summary: Application must be a South Dakota resident, interested in S.D. corrections or human services field and be involved in school/community activities. Requires application and essay. One $500 scholarship to be awarded.

 

South Dakota Bankers Foundation Scholarships

Deadline: March 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be an NSU junior majoring in banking and financial services. Includes the Herman Lerdal, Joyce Hazeltine, David S. Birkeland, Deb Gates, and Alan M. Graff scholarships, ranging from $1,500 to $4,000 each.

 

Bill Barlow “Second Chance” Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be an incoming freshman who has graduated from an alternative school or Sioux Falls area public/private school, or a Sioux Falls area resident with a GED. Applicants who graduate from a public/private school must have a cumulative GPA of no greater than 2.7. Requires online application, essay, application certification and two recommendation letters. Two $2,500 scholarships.

 

Fool Soldier Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a descendant of the Fool Soldiers, a group of Teton Lakota men who ransomed the freedom of two women and six children held captive by Dakota Indians in 1862. Applicant must be able to prove their ancestry and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Two $2,000 scholarships.

 

Kimberly Rose Means Native American Council of Tribes Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and be a graduating high school senior and enrolled member of a South Dakota American Indian tribe who has participated in school/community activities; or be a S.D. tribal member returning to school after an absence. Requires application, tribal information, essay, transcript, and a letter of recommendation. One $750 scholarship.

 

Ralph and Doris Wallin Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a resident of Minnehaha or Lincoln counties in South Dakota; be 25  or younger; and be enrolling as a first-time student. Requires online application, transcript, essay and two letters of recommendation. Five $5,500 scholarships.

 

Waneta Drake Miller Edmison Non-Traditional Student Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be 24 or older and a resident of Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner or McCook counties of South Dakota. Must have successfully completed a minimum of six credit hours in a degree-seeking program, be enrolled full time for the 2019-2020 academic year and have participated in community service activities. Requires application, transcript, essay and a letter of recommendation. One $3,250 scholarship.

 

Hovland Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be of Norwegian descent and entering their junior year fall 2019 with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Requires online application, essay, proof of ancestry, transcript and two letters of recommendation. Two $2,250 scholarships to be awarded.

 

Randall Blair Isenberg Alcohol Addiction Awareness Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be enrolled/accepted in an undergraduate or graduate program with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher and have demonstrated raising awareness of alcohol addiction. Requires resume listing history of raising alcohol addiction awareness, essay, transcript, and online application. One $500 scholarship.

 

Howard Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: March 22, 2019

Summary: Applicants for the Howard Memorial Scholarship must be residents of Brown County OR plan to attend Northern State University regardless of where they live. Requires application, page one of the federal income tax return, and a transcript. Scholarships up to $1,000 available.

 

South Dakota Soil and Water Conservation Internship Scholarship

Deadline: March 30, 2019

Summary: Applicant must have completed one year of college, have at least a 2.8 GPA, major in an agricultural- or natural science conservation-related program, be involved in natural resource conservation activities and complete a 40-hour internship (if selected). Requires application, resume, two reference letters and program agreement (if selected). Two $1,000 scholarships.

 

KNR Don't Text & Drive Scholarship

Deadline: March 31, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, accepted or currently enrolled at a university within the U.S., and demonstrate good character or high initiative with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Requires an application, transcript, and recommendation letter. One $5,000 scholarship.

 

Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas Financial Education Scholarship

Deadline: March 31, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a member of a credit union affiliated with Credit Union Association of the Dakotas for at least a year with account in good standing and attending for the fall 2019 semester. Requires application, list of volunteer work and extracurricular activities, and essay. Twenty $500 scholarships.

 

Aberdeen Federal Credit Union Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a member of Aberdeen Federal Credit Union (prior to 2019) and the primary member on your account in good standing, enrolled for the 2019 fall semester and have a 2.5 or higher GPA. Requires application, list of volunteer work and extracurricular activities, and essay. Five $1,000 scholarships.

 

Critical Teaching Needs Scholarship

Deadline: April 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 working in the final two years of education and have been fully admitted to an elementary or secondary education program. Applicant must agree to work in a critical teaching need occupation for five years after graduating and complete a promissory note stating that should the recipient fail to abide by employment requirements, the scholarship will be converted to an interest-bearing loan. Scholarship amount varies.

 

1-800 Injured Scholarship

Deadline: April 24, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be enrolled for the 2019 fall semester. Requires either essay or video submission. One $1,500 scholarship.

 

Elmer C. Anderson Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: April 30, 2019

Summary: Applicant must a junior or senior during the 2018-19 academic year. Requires application, copy of completed FAFSA, personal statement, transcript, three references, and a short essay. One $1,000 scholarship.

 

South Dakota Federation of Music Clubs

Deadline: May 31, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a South Dakota resident enrolled for the 2019 fall semester with a minimum of 30 credit hours completed (freshmen may apply if they have participated in the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior festivals). Requires application, recorded audition, transcript, list of activities, essay and recommendation letter. Two $1,000 scholarships.

 

Ampronix College Scholarship 

Deadline: May 31, 2019

Summary: Applicants must be a United States resident, enrolled as an undergraduate student, and performed at least 20 hours of community service in the last year. Requires taking a survey, proof of enrollment, proof of volunteering, and photo with essay. One $1,000, one $750, and one $500 scholarship to be awarded.

 

Community Superhero Scholarship

Deadline: June 30, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be enrolled or accepted with a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate history of community service and volunteerism. Requires online application, essay, and unofficial transcript. One $1,500 scholarship.

 

Cherish Scholarship

Deadline: Jun. 30, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll as an undergrad or graduate student with a 2.0 cumulative GPA. All majors are encouraged to apply; preference given to applicants pursuing design- and engineering-related fields. One $2,500 scholarship.

 

2019 Volunteer Scholarship - DealHack

Deadline: Jun. 30, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be enrolled full time for the 2019-20 academic year currently in good standing and show outstanding community volunteer involvement. Requires online application, reference, and essay. One $1,500 scholarship will be awarded.

 

Duane Odland Scholarship

Deadline: July 1, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be a child of a Midwest Coast employee, independent contractor or driver for an MCT contractor who has completed one year of college and has a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Requires online application, essay, transcript and two letters of recommendation. One $750 scholarship to be awarded.

 

Min Law Scholarship

Deadline: July 31, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be enrolled for the 2019 fall semester in an undergraduate or graduate program. Requires online application and an essay or a video response. One $1,500 scholarship.

 

ANA Annual Scholarship

Deadline: Aug. 15, 2019

Summary: Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0; enrolled/taken 15 credits in business-related courses; and be enrolled full-time. Graduate students must have a bachelor's degree and be registered full-time in their graduate program. Requires essay, resume, and proof of current GPA and business courses taken. One $1,000 scholarship. 

 

Filter King Scholarship

Deadline: Nov. 28, 2019

Summary: Applicant must be enrolled for the 2019 fall semester with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Requires either an essay or video submission. One $1,000 scholarship.

 

 

 

 

South Dakota Board of Regents Scholarships

South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be South Dakota students who attended an eligible higher education institution in South Dakota. Requires composite ACT score of 24 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and completion of the high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum. Guaranteed to all students who qualify, $6,500 over four years.

 

 

All NSU Scholarships
