Brightspace by D2L
D2L is the learning management system (LMS) used to access course materials. Students' D2L login is the same as their Wolves/Northern email. Visit myNSU to view training documents or submit a Service Request for assistance.
Classrooms
Nearly all classrooms on campus are technology-enabled. Although the rooms vary slightly, typical configuration includes a computer, laptop connection and projector. For operating instructions, visit myNSU Instructional Technology.
Computer Labs
Technology Services provides three general use computer labs in the lower level of Tech Center that are available for reservation. When not in use, these labs are open to students. Williams Library has computers available for students.
Navigate360
Navigate360 is a student-centered mobile app providing personalized information to help keep students on the path toward academic success and timely graduation at Northern. Navigate360 helps reduce the noise to connect students to the right resources at the right time. The app can help students choose a major, understand requirements, make appointments with advisors and tutors, and stay on top of important dates and deadlines. Find the app at NSU Mobile Apps.
Panopto Lecture Capture
Panopto is used to capture lectures or short videos and is integrated with D2L. Links to videos are provided through students' D2L course.
Statistical Analysis Software
- IBM SPSS: SPSS is available in several computer labs and library computers. Faculty may request installation on their work computer.
- NVivo: Northern provides access to NVivo Qualitative Statistical Analysis software in the library.
Turnitin Plagiarism Detection
Turnitin is plagiarism detection software that allows faculty and students to check written work against a large database of compiled academic materials including Internet documents, periodicals, journals and previously submitted student papers for originality. Turnitin works seamlessly with Brightspace by D2L's dropbox assessment tool.
