Dr. John Shannon is currently chief executive officer of the Consortium for Collaborative Education, a startup organization dedicated to fostering international education initiatives. He previously served as president of Trine University in Angola, Indiana, following his tenure as provost and senior vice president. In these senior executive roles, he provided leadership for staff, budgets, policies, strategic initiatives, advancement, and university operations, including securing a $5 million gift to support the construction of a new academic building. He also served as vice president of academic affairs at Trine University, where he led seven colleges; launched numerous undergraduate and graduate programs; ensured accreditation and academic quality across multiple domestic and international locations; advanced online education and open educational resource adoption; and successfully guided the institution through a rapid transition to remote instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Shannon holds a Ph.D. in foreign and second language education from The Ohio State University, an M.A. in applied linguistics from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and a B.A. in psychology from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
